New site fit for a king

Chemist King Mount Gambier celebrated the completion of its new store with a grand opening on Saturday morning.

Chemist King director and pharmacist Michael Auciello said it was a very successful opening which received great support from the local community and surrounds.

“We had a huge influx of customers,” Mr Auciello said.

“We had a lot of people travelling from afar, there were many customers from Millicent, a few from Naracoorte, one lady came 100km.

“It’s been fantastic, Chemist King’s been in Mount Gambier for almost 10 years and the new location has given us an opportunity to heighten the customer experience and also add in more services.”

The store was decorated with balloons and there were raffles, door prizes and a flash sale which included 50% off vitamins and cosmetics.

The Rotary Club of Mount Gambier Lakes cooked up a sausage sizzle with Collins Court Butcher meat and Backyard Café brewed up complimentary coffee for Chemist King customers.

The new site has increased floor space and has three clinic rooms which will offer vaccination services with a nurse on-site, two sleep apnoea consult rooms, a packing room and a naturopath on-site.

A new Willach CONSIS machine will also allow customers to see stock being picked as the pharmacists dispense along with an increase in dispense stations.

“We’re excited to be able to offer these services to our local community, we’re community-engaged,” Mr Auciello said.

“All of our staff are Mount Gambians and we’re excited about creating opportunity, creating jobs for our residents and also giving back to the community.”

Locals Kennett Builders built the new establishment and Mr Auciello said to get the building to completion was an 18-month journey.

“It’s been a great journey and it’s been a great support here in Mount Gambier for our branding,” he said.

Chemist King is South Australian owned with 12 stores in the group and three directors who own their own stores.

Chemist King retail merchandise coordinator Sally Nisbet said she was happy with how everything had come together and felt “relieved” to see the new store officially open.

“I was part of the initial setup from the build right through to the setup to the grand opening so I’m relieved that it’s happened, relieved that it’s worked out so well,” Ms Nisbet said.

“Customers seem happy with our new location and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with the brand and with Mount Gambier from now on.”
