New Wattle Range councillor inducted

Councillors, well-wishers, media and staff are set to witness the swearing-in this afternoon of the new elected member of Wattle Range Council.

Chris Brodie was elected unopposed after previous Riddoch ward representative Rick Paltridge resigned in August.

The brief ceremony at Millicent will be conducted by staff member and Justice of the Peace Elaine Wilson-Bennett.

Mr Brodie will be asked to give an undertaking to discharge his duties conscientiously and to best of his ability.

Following these formalities, the November monthly council meeting will be held with an agenda running to 210 pages.

Mr Brodie is a well-known member of the Penola and Coonawarra communities who is involved in the Penola National Trust and the Penola Hospital Gardening Group.

Past involvements include Penola Primary School Governing Council, Penola Swimming Club, Penola Little Athletics, South Australian Wine Industry Association and the Australian Society for Viticulture & Oenology.

He recently retired as General Manager Vineyards for Wingara Wine Group based at Katnook Estate in Coonawarra and is now working as a consultant.

Passionate about the Wattle Range Council area, especially its outstanding natural assets, Mr Brodie looks forward to helping the council plan for its future.
