News photos officially become works of art

The annual South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival will have two events in Millicent in
August.

Members of the Millicent National Trust have been digging around the archives for interesting portraits to
 display.

They will also have artists from Millicent’s Fifth Street Studios working inside the National Trust Museum creating portraits and more.

Millicent photo journalists “Fred” Smith and Caroline Hammat will display a few specially chosen portraits they have shot.

As part of the SALA Festival, the admission price to the Millicent National Trust Museum will be reduced to only $5.

Meanwhile, Unity Housing will curate an exhibition at the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre from August 2 to September 8.

It will feature original mixed medium artworks by established, emerging and hobbyist South Australian artists.

Backing for this display has come from the Wattle Range Council.
