Nice turnout of veteran Mount Gambier golfers

Sixty-nine players took on the Mount Gambier course in perfect weather for a round of South East Veterans Golf.

The course was pristine and recorded some good scoring.

Division 1 went to Bordertown’s Dion Sippel (41) from locals Tony MacGregor (40) and Grant Stephenson (37).

Rob McIntyre had a nearest the pin on the eighth and David Douglas was 70mm away on the 16th and then took home the Scotch to top off a very good day.

Division 2 had Penola’s regular Trev Williams scoring 41, making it four wins out of the last six. He’s in red hot form at the moment – how does the handicap system allow this?

Kingston’s Colin Wright finished second with a very respectable 38, and then Bordertown’s Graham Pilgrim (35), another of the regular prize winners Ken Clarke and Lindsay Storer won the Ross Orchard trophy.

The ball rundown was to 30 points. The group’s next outing is at Kingston on February 3, followed by Robe on February 17 and Blue Lake on March 3, before the AGM on March 17.
