North Sportsmans v South Gambier
North Sportsmans will take on South Gambier this Saturday in a one dayer at Marist Park in the Zema Estate Barber Shield First Nations Round.
These sides last met at the start of the month in round 4 in a two day series where the Tigers got the better of the Dees in a close match.
Early on this season the Tigers have looked very dominant, with only one loss to their name.
South on the other hand have been a bit inconsistent and are coming off a really tough loss to Penola where they failed to score a century in both their batting innings.
The Dees are going to need more of a lift from some of their middle order batters like Adam Kuhl, Noah Maxwell and Jed Sims.
A positive sign from the last match for the Dees was Sukhbir Singh who was a solid contributor despite the defeat and they will need him to bring that momentum into this game.
North will be looking to take their overall form from the last match into this game where they played great across the board.
North captain Mitch Lewis also believes this.
“We would like to think we can carry our recent form into the South game and get the win at our home ground,” he said.
“But we will need to be at our best as South did almost defeat us last time.
“If we can bat and bowl as we did against the East side we are confident.”
East Gambier v Mil Lel
East Gambier will host Mil Lel this Saturday in a one day match.
These sides last met in round 4 where Mil Lel got the win over the Doggies on their home turf after a big batting and bowling innings.
Both sides will be on the rebound this week after suffering tough losses last round.
Last round Mil Lel had a solid batting innings but struggled to slow down West’s attack that slowly chipped away at their run score on day two.
East on the other hand had an up and down match with the bat, as they had their worst innings this season, only making 26 runs then backing it up with a 127 run innings.
The Doggies also did not bowl the best as they allowed the Tigers to make 202.
Both sides will need everyone to stand up in this game as they are both on the hunt for another important win.
West Gambier v Penola
West Gambier are set to face Penola on Saturday at Malseed Park.
Both sides are coming off great wins last week where they put together great batting performances.
Penola topped the round last week, making 252 runs while the Roos made a hard fought 188.
Both sides will be out for the win this week as Penola currently sit second on the ladder while the Roos are third.
A player to watch in this match will be Penola’s Jack Mulllan, who has found some great form lately, scoring 127 runs last week and 125 the week prior.
It will be interesting to see how he goes up against West a second time round.
The Roos will be looking to have the same consistency they had from last round.
Last game they had seven batters make double digit scores with four of them being over 20 runs.
As both teams have looked great this season this match should be a cracking one.
