Off-shore windfarm rejected

Aproposed off-shore windfarm in State waters near Kingston has been refused development approval by State Planning Minister Nick Champion.

A development application was lodged two years ago on behalf of SA Offshore Windfarm Pty Ltd.

The proposed development was subject to assessment under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.

Mr Champion has considered its findings and published his determination in the latest edition of the SA Government Gazette.

The international consortium developing the windfarm said it would be located about 10km from Kingston and generate up to 600 gigawatts of power.
