Office designs developed

The development of detailed designs has started for the proposed new $5.5m office in Millicent for Wattle Range Council.

A staff report submitted to council states the three consultants coordinating with each other and undertaking relevant investigations on architectural and services elements of the building which is earmarked for vacant parkland on North Terrace.

“Council officers are currently reviewing the cost plan with the consultants and are identifying cost saving options without impacting the design intent and efficiency of the building,” stated the staff report.

“The new office is being designed to combine the staff of all three of the current sites under one roof.

“It will be environmentally friendly, capturing natural light, air and water.

“It will be functional and enable teams to collaborate and work together in an efficient and productive way.

“It will also cater to the formalities of council with a purpose-built meeting chamber, reception area and public spaces.

“It will be built using local timber and stone and with local suppliers and contractors wherever practical.

“Its design is a collaborative effort by the architects, councillors and staff.”
