Orchestra pulls pin on shows

This weekend’s orchestral and choral performances at Mount Gambier and Millicent have been cancelled. The Limestone Coast Symphony Orchestra was scheduled to present a Saturday evening concert at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre and then an identical program at a matinee the following afternoon at the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre.

However, after the combined rehearsal last week, the LCSO committee made the decision to cancel its eighth annual season. COVID cross border quarantine conditions made it impossible for Hamilton-based conductor Angus Christie to lead the singers and players through to performance.

The LCSO committee has apologised to its loyal supporters who purchased tickets for either of the 2021 concerts and refunds will be made available. COVID protocols had also led to the cancellation of the concerts at Millicent and Mount Gambier a year ago.
