Outstanding results from state and at home

LITTLE ATHLETICS

CASTERTON Little Athletics’ Myles Black has returned outstanding results in his first ever State Track and Field Championships at Casey Fields in Melbourne’s East.

Myles was the only Casterton athlete to head to the meet, competing against Victoria’s best, including state champions.

In a huge field, he placed 11th in the Under 17 boys discus and javelin, before collecting an outstanding fifth place in the high jump.

A massive congratulations to Myles, who works hard every week at home meets and the result of that work produced great results on the state arena.

We have also got a HUGE congratulations to one of our committee members and general ‘have a go at everything’ mums, Gabby Sullivan.

Gabby is a great leader at Little Aths, working with our future athletes, organising our kids to represent our club at district and regional level AND is an outstanding athlete, in her own right.

At the weekend, Gabby took out the 800m women’s track final at the Geelong Gift meet and was in a photo finish, claiming third place in the 400m.

She also had a big meet at Bendigo last weekend, again taking third in a close 400m, missing the Golden Nugget by just 0.14 seconds.

Gabby is a great inspiration to all our Little Athletes and all we can say is: Look-out Stawell Easter Gift!

At home, we have also had a big couple of weeks, with several of our athletes participating in their school athletics sports and winning age group champion medals – well done Douglas Harvey, Ailish Tait, Oliver Grigg, Molly Mara, Joanna Jarrad and Harry Smith.

Friday night’s meet also logged some great achievements in two of our age groups, where every member recorded personal bests in the same event.

In our Under 9 Girls, Isla Duperouzel, Isabella Killey, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Smith and Dakota-Jane Wilson all recorded PBs in the shot put and in the Under 6 Boys, Harry Smith, Morgan Scott and Bobby Killey had their speedy boots on, all running over the line in PBs in the 70 metres.

Well done everyone!
