The winners of the Golf South East Women’s Pennant competition were crowned recently after five challenging weeks crisscrossing the region.
The competition commenced in March with players from Beachport, Blue Lake, Bordertown, Keith, Kingston, Lucindale, Millicent, Mount Gambier, Penola and Robe Golf Clubs competing over five weeks and four Divisions.
It all wrapped up during finals day at Naracoorte recently and A Grade was contested between Kingston and Millicent. The team of Helen Chilton, Mardi Sunderland, Kirsty Bailey, Sue Agnew and Alex Lambert ensured Millicent took the honours four matches to one.
In Division 1, Mount Gambier and Penola were the pack leaders. Penola’s Sam Evans, Penny Young, Rachel Messenger, Sue Kilsby and Pat Boyd were victorious by the same three-match margin.
Division 2 was contested between Millicent and Bordertown and Janet Watson, Bronwyn Clarke, Rosalie Hunt, Val Williams, Sue Ireland and Karen Altschwager gave the former a 3-2 win.
Blue Lake and Lucindale fought for the Division 3 title with Blue Lake’s Trudy Herbert, Carol Melhuish, Viv Wilson, Beryl Mahoney and Carol Megaw taking the honours by just one match.
