COVID has again disrupted service delivery at the Penola War Memorial Hospital.
Due to an outbreak at the hospital, the site is currently under a temporary lockdown until further notice.
The closure was announced last week and a Limestone Coast Local Health Network spokesperson said they would “regularly review and re-open the ED as soon as possible”.
During this time, it is unable to support presentations to the Emergency Department or admit any new patients.
The Limestone Coast Local Health Network has also stated that visitors to Penola Hospital will be limited to one nominated visitor only who will be required to be in full personal protective equipment (PPE) during visits.
In an emergency, patients will be redirected to the nearest hospital, either at Naracoorte, Millicent, Bordertown or Mount Gambier.
The spokesperson said the health and safety of their patients, staff and aged care residents was their top priority and said they continue to provide care to their residents while supporting those who have tested positive to COVID-19.
