Mount Gambier Library will host a live event with embryologist and fertility educator Lucy Lines next week.

The launch of “Achieving Parenthood; The struggles are real, the hope is eternal” will be held on September 14 at 7pm.

Achieving Parenthood is a collaborative book of 13 heartfelt journeys from everyday people who share their stories of miscarriage, infertility, adoption, loss, surrogacy and donor options.

Acting library manager Kristi Brooks said Ms Lines’ own story “Making Babies” is chapter one, covering her career highs in fertility breakthroughs, then follows her own bitter disappointment of trying to conceive and her tragic losses.

“Lucy has spent years helping the dreams of thousands of would-be parents become reality.

“On a personal level, she knows firsthand the heartache, stress, anger and anxiety of the fertility rollercoaster,” Ms Brooks said.

“Lucy now has two beautiful children with her husband and calls Mount Gambier home where she continues to support and help couples with independent fertility support and IVF information through her business, Two Lines Fertility.”

Ms Line said despite all her knowledge and hands on experience working clinically, and helping create thousands of families, building her own family was nowhere near as easy as she thought it would be.

Achieving Parenthood is compiled by author, speaker and fertility advocate Kellie Harriden who wanted to reach and help as many people as possible.

“They say everyone has a story; in the world of infertility, truer words have not been spoken.

The fertility journey is often a lonely one to travel, and many people suffer in silence.

“I compiled Achieving Parenthood to help break the silence – you are not alone,” Ms Harriden said.

“With one in six Australian couples facing infertility, these stories may unknowingly help you, your sibling, your friend or colleague or your partner.

“This is also a celebration for all the brave contributors of the book in their mission to help break the silence of suffering alone.”
