Dogs will be permitted to run and walk without leashes in six areas of the Wattle Range Council area for the coming 12 months on a trial basis.

The council undertook public consultation on the proposal and then endorsed the trial at its April monthly meeting.

The designated dog-off leash areas in Millicent are for a portion of McLaughlin Park (grassed area west of the Millicent United Soccer clubrooms), Millicent Dog Park, Belt Road walking track (northern end only) and the southern end of the Bolton oval sporting area.

The trial will apply at two areas of Penola at the Greenrise Recreational Reserve walking trail and to the north of the main football oval at McCorquindale Park.
