Planning expert steps down

Councils across the South East region are seeking the services of another independent planning law expert after veteran planner Liz Travers relinquished her role on multiple development assessment panels.

She has opted not to renew her high-level professional accreditation which is a mandatory requirement under the State Government legislation.

Among the councils to be affected will be Wattle Range Council where Ms Travers has served for over 14 years on its development assessment panel.

She was elevated to the presiding member’s role in 2010 following the death of ex-Mayor Don Ferguson who spent four years at the helm.

Ms Travers holds a Diploma in Town Planning.

In her letter of resignation, Ms Travers acknowledged the support of the planning staff of Wattle Range Council

“I have found them to be welcoming, friendly and supportive during my time on the panel,” Ms Travers said.
