Police charge teens over arson

Two youths were arrested following a small fire in a toilet block in Mount Gambier’s CBD on Saturday night.

Police were called to a toilet block on Railway Terrace at the Mount Gambier Rail Lands just before 7.30pm after a small fire was reported.

A fire had been lit in the sink, but a member of the public extinguished it by turning on the tap.

The damage was limited to the hand basin and there was no damage to the building or structure.

Following a search of the area, two teenagers were arrested nearby.

A 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy were both charged with property damage and bailed to appear in the Mount Gambier Youth Court at a later date.
