Police have ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a Mount Gambier woman on the weekend.
SAPOL issued a statement on Saturday advising that just before 8am police and emergency services were called to a property on Lake Terrace East after reports a woman was unconscious at the address.
On police arrival they located a 52-year-old woman who sadly could not be revived, with SAPOL describing the situation as an “unexplained death”.
Police advised that a 53-year-old man was assisting Mount Gambier police with the investigation.
“The circumstances of the death have not been determined,” a SAPOL spokesperson said at the time.
“Mount Gambier Police have been assisted by Forensic Response Section and Major Crime Detectives due to the unknown circumstances.
“There is no risk to the community and no one has been charged at this stage.”
However yesterday police advised the death was not believed to be suspicious.
“Following investigation by Mount Gambier Police, with the assistance of Forensic Response Section and Major Crime Detectives, and a post-mortem examination, the cause of death has been determined to be non-suspicious,” a SAPOL spokesperson said yesterday.
“A report will be prepared for the Coroner.”
