Astaffer in the Naracoorte electorate office of Independent MacKillop MP Nick McBride is seeking to become a National Party senator.
Since 2018, Monique Crossling has served on the Naracoorte Lucindale Council including two years as deputy mayor.
According to her election manifesto, Ms Crossling has working tirelessly to support local communities, improve infrastructure, and advocate for better services in the regions.
“As a former small business owner, she understands the challenges faced by regional businesses, from workforce shortages to rising costs,” the manifesto states.
“She knows firsthand how important it is to create the right conditions for local businesses to grow, thrive, and continue driving regional economies.
“She is committed to increasing regional representation in government and ensuring country communities have a strong voice in Canberra.
“As a busy mum to three girls, Monique understands the pressures on families – particularly the need for affordable and accessible childcare, investment in local schools, access to housing and incentives to attract teachers and healthcare professionals to the regions.”
Meanwhile, a Tintinara farmer, husband and father of three will run for the National Party in Barker for the second time.
Deputy Mayor of the Coorong District Council Jonathan Pietzsch says he will advocate for localised regional health services.
According to his election manifesto, Mr Pietzsch is also interested in looking at ways to address the regional housing crisis and increasing the supply of skilled workers in country areas.
Regional growth and development are also priority areas for Mr Pietzsch.
He polled 2.39% of the primary vote at the last Federal election in 2022.
Mr Pietzsch was also unsuccessful in that year as the National Party candidate for the State seat of MacKillop but he did win a place on the Coorong District Council.
