Prices on rise

The beach price for Southern Zone lobster has briefly spiked at $80 per kilogram.

Fishers have received this premium price for larger lobsters, however this high price has since plummeted in what fishers have attributed to marketing irregularities.

Smaller lobsters have dipped to $50 per kilogram.

Meanwhile, a leading retailer in the capital city has maintained their retail price of $97 per kilogram.

Poor weather has continued to hamper fishing since the 2024/25 season for professionals began on September 1 but the catch rates are said to be satisfactory.
