Radio station fundraiser hottest ticket in town

The Lions Club of Mount Gambier had again donated more than five cubic metres of firewood to a local fundraiser

The club donated the wood to radio station 5GTR FM to raffle off in their annual winter wood raffle.

The service club has been donating the firewood for a number of years for the station’s raffle, with 5GTR FM volunteers selling tickets at the station and at Mount Gambier Central.

Given Mount Gambier’s burst of wintry weather, hundreds of tickets were sold for the raffle, with 5GTR FM’s Breakfast Show crew Llew Jones and Coral Lynch drawing the winner with Lions Club of Mount Gambier volunteer Brendon Hirth.

The winning ticket belonging to Mount Gambier woman Liz Childs, who was ecstatic when told of her win, taking the call from Mr Jones.

Lions Club of Mount Gambier volunteers cut and split the firewood before delivering the load to Ms Childs at her Mount Gambier Home.

The club intends to supply a load of wood again next year depending upon wood availability, with the raffle to run from June 5 to July 3, 2025, and drawn on July 9.
