A Mount Gambier author’s debut book has already become a best seller – weeks before it hits the shelves.

Mount Gambier Airport Compliance officer Adam Branford’s novel Cows, Curries and Chaos has taken off, already achieving Amazon number 1 bestseller in India & South Asia Travel, and Road Travel as well as receiving a 5-star rating on the app since its release on January 29.

The book is based on a trip Mr Branford took to India with two friends in 2015 travelling 2800km in two weeks in a Tuk Tuk as part of The Adventurist’s Rickshaw Run.

The fundraising event raises participant’s heart rates as well as money for Cool Earth and a charity of the entrant’s choice.

“We chose Frank Water, a charity in India that gives clean drinking water to villages,” Mr Branford said.

“Entrants of the Rickshaw Run are required to cross the entire Indian subcontinent with no mechanical support, no provided maps or accommodation and a rock-solid guarantee that you will break down.

“If you did not break down something is wrong.”

The journey follows Mr Branford and his noteworthy experiences of avoiding potholes, dodgy curries, wayward cows, rip off merchants, filthy motels, Indian trains, near misses, mishaps, close calls, and other random occasions where he thought he was going to die.

Mr Branford said he wanted to turn his experience into a book because it was so unique.

The novel is available as an Ebook on Amazon and Kindle and will be released as a paperback on March 8.

Mr Branford is hoping to release his second book Monkeys, Mountains and Mayhem in the next six months before going on another trip to complete his adventure trilogy.
