With the usual winter sporting codes enjoying a weekend off, all eyes will be on the Icehouse this Saturday night as the Mount Gambier Pioneers play host to the Nunawading Spectres in round 12 of the 2022 NBL1 South season.
It is a must win for the home team to secure a top two position on the NBL1 South Conference ladder.
After being on the road last weekend in a double header with a win and a loss, Mount Gambier will be eager to put on a show for the home crowd and play an exciting style of basketball.
The Castec Rural Supplies Pioneers have a good core group of players and having Michael Harris back from injury will add some depth.
They will also look to captain Tom Daly, Tom Kubank and the excitement machine of Clevon Brown to get the job done.
Nunawading will be a threat coming out after only going down to top team Hobart by six points.
This performance will give the side some encouragement coming into Saturday night’s clash at the Icehouse.
The Spectres players to watch out for will be CJ Asuncion-Byrd, Jack Gandolfo and Remo Simankevicios who have all been in good form.
Up first will be the OneFortyOne Mount Gambier Pioneers women in a battle of third v fourth on the ladder.
The Mount Gambier team have endured an up and down few weeks and will be eager to get another win on the board.
Nunawading are heading to the Icehouse after a solid win over Hobart and will take it up to the home team with have Emma Pearce, Cassidy Mihalko and Megan Mullings firing on all cylinders.
The OneFortyOne Pioneers will be on the front foot and will need a standout performance from Shakera Reilly, Cassandra Brown and Hannah Young.
