Region set to ring in New Year

Centres across the Limestone Coast are getting set to ring in the New Year this evening.

The region’s major event will be the Mount Gambier New Year’s Eve Festival, to be held at the Blue Lake city’s showgrounds.

Gates open at 5pm, with festivities kicking off from 6pm including live entertainment and free kids activities.

There will be jumping castles, laser tag, face painting and live entertainment on the main stage all night from a variety of talented artists.

The family friendly event will feature two fireworks displays – with the first about 9pm followed by the midnight light show.

Given today’s warm weather, thousands are also expected to flock to coastal locations to bring in 2025.

The popular hot spots of Robe and Beachport are set to see an influx of visitors for the last night of 2024, with Robe’s Guichen Bay the central location to watch the fireworks at approximately 9.30pm.

Beachport’s foreshore will feature fireworks at 9.30pm and midnight, with the town’s jetty set to be the centre of the show.
