Regional art show entries received

Entries have started to arrive for this year’s Wattle Range Art Exhibition, with organisers looking forward to another successful exhibition.

Council’s Libraries and Galler manager Janice Nitschke said last year the exhibition received 179 entries and Penola High School and St Anthonys Primary exhibited in the school’s section.

“This year we have been able to secure two outstanding judges in Emma Fey FGLF, Art Gallery of South Australia and artist Herman Pekel, renowned for his oils and watercolours,” she said.

“Both will bring their own expertise to the judging panel.”

Recently Mayor Des Noll presented Michael Piper with last year’s People’s Choice award for his beautiful oil on canvas depiction of Southend, titled ‘Silvergulls’.

“Art makes a vibrant community and we have art in abundance across Wattle Range,” Mayor Noll said.

“We are all looking forward to another exhibition of great diversity and innovation.”

Entries will be accepted through to November 25 with the opening of the exhibition to be held on December 1.
