Regional network under new leadership

Foundation chairman and Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll has stepped down after leading the Wattle Range Suicide Prevention Network for its first six years.

His successor is Senior Sergeant First Class Rick Errington who is the officer-in-charge of Millicent police.

Filling the dual roles of treasurer/deputy chairman for the coming 12 months will be Wattle Range Council chief executive Ben Gower while Marg Chapple will continue as the network’s secretary.

The office-holders were elected at the recent annual general meeting in Millicent.

Among the network’s promotional activities in the past year were painting blue trees, lighting up local landmarks with blue hues, supporting R U OK? Day and a quiz night.

The guest speaker was local veterinarian and Millicent Business Community Association joint chairperson Dr Sarah McGrath.

She moved to the area from interstate a decade ago with her husband and fellow veterinarian Dr Sean McGrath to operate the vet clinic.
