Police were kept busy last week with a host of traffic offences detected across the Limestone Coast.
A drink driver was caught with a blood alcohol reading of more than five times the legal limit near Keith on Tuesday afternoon.
Concerned motorists alerted police to a vehicle travelling erratically on the Dukes Highway at Brimbago just before 4.30pm.
Police located and stopped the vehicle.
The driver, a 46-year-old Murray Bridge woman, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.279.
She was reported for drink driving and issued with an immediate 12 month loss of licence. She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Meanwhile, officers detected numerous people breaking traffic laws on the long weekend.
A 59-year-old woman from Robe was reported for drink driving. It is alleged she returned a breath test reading of 0.088%. She was issued with a six month instant loss of licence and her vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
A 28-year-old woman from Mount Gambier was issued an on the spot fine after she was stopped on the Riddoch Highway, Tarpeena. It is alleged she returned a breath test reading of 0.060%.
A 36-year-old woman from Mount Gambier was stopped on Tumut Drive for a mobile driver screening test where she allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine. Pending results of a forensic analysis may face drug driving charges at a later date.
A 35-year-old man from Mount Gambier and a 58-year-old from Burrungule were issued with on the spot fines after they were stopped on Jubilee Highway West, Mount Gambier. It is alleged they returned a breath test reading of 0.057 and 0.074.
A 37-year-old man from Mount Gambier was stopped on Crouch Street North, Mount Gambier where he allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine. Pending results of a forensic analysis may face drug driving charges at a later date.
A 20-year-old woman from Nangwarry was arrested after she was found driving disqualified and failed to comply with police directions. Her vehicle was impounded and she will appear in court at a later date.
An 18-year-old man from Mount Gambier was detected travelling at 156kph in 110kph zone on the Riddoch Highway, Struan. The man was issued with a six month instant loss of licence and a on the spot fine.
Police are preparing a report for the Coroner after a man died at Padthaway on Friday. Police and paramedics were called to a winery on the Riddoch Highway just after 1pm.
Sadly, a 72-year-old man from Bordertown died while working on the property. The circumstances surrounding the man’s death are not suspicious and police will be preparing a report for the State Coroner.
