Regional road quality concerns driven home

The “poor” state of some sealed and unsealed roads across Millicent and district is a cause of concern for local school bus driver Bill Taylor.

Each year, he drives many thousands of kilometres ferrying students to and from Millicent High School.

As many of these roads are the responsibility of Wattle Range Council, Mr Taylor took the opportunity on Friday to have a face-to-face chat with Mayor Des Noll and chief executive Ben Gower at a drop-in session at the Millicent Visitor Information Centre.

His lobbying for road upgrades was timely as council will spend the coming months working on its financial blueprint for 2022/23.

Mayor Noll said the feedback from Mr Taylor was appreciated. The two council leaders also had some one-on-one time with a reporter from The SE Voice.

After the Millicent drop-in session, Mayor Noll and Mr Gower travelled to Tantanoola for a further informal forum in the central parklands opposite the Tantanoola Tiger Hotel.

The pair travel around the council area on a roster basis each month for drop-in sessions at the 14 towns.
