The popular Pinehurst competition returned to the fairways of the Mount Gambier Golf Club last week.
No less than 14 pairs of lady golfers enjoyed the feeling of team play plus the engenders of a camaraderie not felt in a “play-on-your-own” game.
The day was bitterly cold and the conditions of the course were heavy with the greens slower than usual.
The winning pair on the day was Anne Headlam and Diann Norman registering 75 nett.
Playing off a 17 Handicap they recorded 92-17-75 having a really good front nine with 43 off the stick, carding a birdie on the short 8th hole, thus winning the pro shot award.
In second position was the pairing of Faye Mainwaring and Bev Pedlar who posted a nett 77 and also had a strong front nine with 43 off the stick.
There were three pairs of golfers earning themselves a ball each in the ball run-Down – Carol Davis/Kathie Ewer, Donna Jennings/Denise Harvey and Jan Shanahan/Vicki Clark.
The speciality prizes of the day went to Headlam and Norman winning the Pro Shot and the combined second shot on the opening hole was taken out by the two long hitters Janina Morrison and Jennifer Van Ritjhover.
The fourth round of the Hudson Plumbing stableford competition will tee off next week.
