Revival of champions

Revival of champions

Local Josh Lynagh recently released his first song in almost five years, a project involving several other emcees and created by Australian producer and musician Cool Poindexter.

Ten years ago, Cool Poindexter released an album called ‘Champions 2011’, where he created songs with Australian and international artists.

Mr Lynagh featured on a song called ‘Fallen,’ which he worked on with local singer Kane Stuckey.

The new song is titled ‘Champions Revival,’ which was released to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the original album.

The song features artists from the original ‘Champions 2011’ album each rapping a verse.

The 10-minute track is a hip-hop rock fusion which includes instruments such as electric guitar, drums and piano.

Mr Lynagh said the song involved each artist reflecting on the last 10 years and how much had changed.

“For me, it was going from 10 years ago, everything was about music, whereas now, obviously, there’s a big difference between being 23 and being 33,” he said.

Although Mr Lynagh no longer finds much free time to focus on his music, it is also something he has never completely let go of.

“When opportunities come up like this, I take it,” he said.

“I guess this song is the first thing I have released in quite a while.

“So for me, it just feels good to get back to making music and working with people.”

Mr Lynagh realised he had accomplished a lot with his music over the years and had some great experiences, which he mentioned in the song.

“Back when I was making music constantly, it was more structured, I had all these plans and ideas,” he said.

“But basically I’m quite happy with where I’m at and if I’m releasing bits and pieces here and there then I’m cool with that.”
