West Gambier won the annual Call to Arms match when it lowered the colours of East Gambier at Malseed Park on Saturday.
It has been played each year since 2011 and honours the memory of late player Phil Muhovics who died of cancer the previous year.
The victory ensured the Western Border Roos won the minor premiership.
The best-on-ground was West Gambier recruit Brandon Newton who received the Phil Muhovics Memorial Medal which is donated each year by the Muhovics family.
Newton has made a successful transition from his Mid South Eastern club Port MacDonnell.
Five individuals cast votes and Newton won on a countback from his coach Daron McElroy.
The Call to Arms campaign to support men’s cancer issues was initiated in 2006 by star AFL Bomber Adam Ramanauskas in conjunction with the Essendon Football Club and The Cancer Council.
Since its humble beginnings, the program has rapidly gained momentum across the AFL grassroots community.
Phil Muhovics was a noted footy identity in this region and he died of bone cancer in 2010 at the age of 53.
He played at five clubs across the South East and was a senior coach at four of them and an underage coach at the fifth.
