It is the most anticipated Sprintcar meeting since the 2018 Australian Title at Borderline Speedway as close to 70 sprintcars are set to converge on Mount Gambier for the 29th running of the Kings Challenge in an Australia Day blockbuster.
The American contingent nominated for this year’s event includes several of the world’s best drivers including two of the top five in last year’s World of Outlaws Series.
Sheldon Haudenschild makes his long-awaited debut at Mount Gambier aboard the Jack Lee Racing V25, while Carson Macedo returns aboard the Dyson Motorsports #99 entry.
Cory Eliason, who was in white hot form over in Western Australia, returns in the Diamond Bay Motorsport #26 while Monte Motorsports make a welcome return to Borderline with Tyler Courtney a the helm of the #17 after sampling several victories over in the west.
Carson’s brother Cole is also in the field aboard the Mark House owned T14 who was on the podium at the Australian Sprintcar Open at Archerfield recently.
Chase Randall has impressed many on his Australian tour so far and is keen for a solid result and will be better off from the run at Borderline back in December, while Brock Zearfoss makes his Borderline debut aboard the #95 out of WA.
Another American making his debut in Mount Gambier is Justin Sanders who has shown impressive speed up north at Archerfield and was on the podium at Lismore last week.
Sanders will be one to watch in the immaculate Motorguard machine out of Queensland.
The Australian contingent is as strong as an Australian Title with the heavy hitters in sprintcar racing all looking for the $10,000 first prize.
Current Australian champion Marcus Dumesny, while now American-based but still an Aussie James McFadden returns aboard the Napa Auto Parts #5 for Hodges Motorsport in a car that has gained a lot of media attention in the past month.
Kerry Madsen also makes a welcome return with Krikke Motorsport, Speedweek and Australian Open champion Jock Goodyer is named as a starter as well as Jamie Veal, Ian Madsen, Brock Hallett, Lachie McHugh, Matt Egel, Rusty Hickman, Callum Williamson, Matt Dumesny, Grant Anderson and Cody Maroske.
Other Aussies making the Borderline to storm the Borderline castle are Brock Hallett, Luke Dillon and Tate Frost, while Brooke Tatnell makes his return for Dobson Motorsport out of Tasmania.
Local drivers Steven Lines, Glen Sutherland, Scott Enderl and Daniel Pestka for SP Racing will all be keen to impress on the biggest night of the season at the Mount Gambier circuit.
The South Australian contingent is out in force as well with Ben Morris, Lisa Walker, Hayden Pitt, Ryan Jones, Joel Heinrich, Brendan Guerin and Max Vidau just a few runners too mention,, with several cars from Victoria also in the field.
Jye O’Keeffe, Peter Doukas, Bobby Daly, young gun Jett Bell Supercars star Cameron Waters plus many stars from NSW also will make the trek south for the night before the Classic.
There are several Queensland young guns in the field who will be keen to stamp their authority on the Borderline clay in the form of Randy Morgan, Nicholas Whell, Taylor Prosser aand Jy Corbet.
The night will be supported by State of Origin Wingless Sprints SA v Vic with 20 cars set to take to the track for bragging rights.
The Sprintcar format will be in their heat groups for hot laps and time trails followed by seven heats in a round, twin C Mains, twin B Mains and tthe Kings Challenge grand finale.
