Millicent v Penola
Millicent will host Penola on Saturday as the Eagles look to build off the Limestone Coast Football Netball League’s last round success on the road.
Penola should be riding the momentum of their win over East last week as they go up against the side that lost to the Doggies a couple of weeks ago.
The Saints will be keen to get back on the winners list after a tough loss to the Tigers two weeks ago, coming off last week’s bye.
These sides last met in round one, where the Saints got the better of Penola in the Eagles’ league opener at home.
Besides their round two result Penola have been a pretty competitive side this year, going 2-2 in their last four games with the two losses not being greater than 20 points.
The Eagles are also on a bit of a hot streak, winning two straight games.
However this will be a good challenge for the Eagles as they head to McLaughlin Park to face Millicent which is yet to lose at home.
For Penola, Jayden Eldridge will need to have another big performance like he did last week while for the Saints, Kade Varcoe has been very good this season along with both Billy and Kalan Shanks who will definitely cause some problems for the Eagles in this contest.
There is no doubt that Penola will put up a good fight on Saturday however the Saints should be just too good at home and come out on top.
West Gambier v Casterton Sandford
West Gambier will host Casterton on Saturday as the Roos look to take revenge on their round one defeat.
Back in round one the Cats spoiled the Roos’ premiership start to the 2025 season as they smashed them by 42 points.
Since then the Cats have been a threat this season, with just two losses they sit second on the ladder with the Roos in third.
This will be a good challenge for the Cats as they have struggled against the other top four sides with their defeats this season coming at the hands of South and Millicent.
The Roos will be fresh and ready to hit the field after last week’s bye and a win will put them into the top two.
For West, expect Kyle Giddings to have a big game on Saturday. Giddings has been phenomenal this season and has contributed big in nearly every game.
While for the Cats, Callum Currie along with Gabriel Parsons will be two players who will cause problems for the Roos just like in round one.
This contest could go either way as these are two quality sides however I am tipping slightly towards the Cats coming out on top.
East Gambier v North Gambier
East Gambier will look to find some form on Saturday as they host North Gambier at the Kennel.
Since East’s round three win over Millicent they have struggled to build any momentum, having lost four straight games.
North on the other hand have been a bit inconsistent this season, with three wins and three losses and they have not had many convincing wins.
In these sides’ last meeting back in round one on Friday night the Tigers just got past the Doggies, beating them by only five
points.
As the Tigers sit just out of the top four a win this week will certainly help their chances of getting back into finals contention.
This will be a good confidence booster game for East if they can come out with the win.
They have shown they can play well but they have struggled throughout the year to play consistently for four quarters.
The Tigers will be too good for the Doggies on Saturday and come away with the win.
