Sedan showcase tears up Borderline

South East speedway fans were treated to a Sedan filled night at the Borderline Speedway on Saturday.

The night had a slight change of plans when the originally scheduled SA 360 LS Sprintcar Title was moved to March 22 due to low nomination numbers.

Despite this, there was still plenty of action on the night with a Super Sedan feature, Street Stocks, Junior Sedans Top Stars, Junior Sedans New Stars and Classic Sedans.

Across the six categories there were around 80 cars racing, with each category having two heats and a final.

In the Junior Sedan New Stars, local Demi Jennings took home first place with another local in Aiden Gartner in second and James Becker third.

Lachie Brown was crowned champ in Top Stars with James Peacock in second and Cruz Carlin rounding it out in third.

The Street Stock category resulted in Drew Flatman winning while Jason Duell came in second with Darren Flatman finishing in third.

In the main event Queensland’s Brad Pascoe took home first place in the Super Sedan feature with runner up awarded to Matty Pascoe with Victoria’s Brock Atkins finishing on the podium in third.

Event organiser Cary Jennings was very pleased with how smoothly the night ran, with four hours of racing

“We started right at 5pm and finished at 9pm which is good for families who have young kids because they can get them home, mum and dad enjoy the night and the kids are not up too late,” he said.

“It’s excellent to see that we finished on time, we had a plan to finish at by 9.30pm but everything went really well which is good.”

Overall Jennings was happy with the quality of racing shown on the night.

“All in all the racing was fast and the competitors all enjoyed it with only a few incidents in a couple of races, but that’s speedway racing and it does not matter what sort of racing you have there’s always someone’s misfortune to get a crash,” he said.

Jennings was happy with the crowd turn out on the night despite not having the sprintcars racing.

“The crowd was reasonable, we were happy with the numbers on Saturday night,” he said.

“We probably had the same number in the pits as what was on the hill so all in total we probably had somewhere around 800 people.”

Borderline Speedway’s next meeting will be on March 22 with the headlining events being the SA Wingless Sprint Title and the SA 360 LS Sprintcar Title.
