Semi final clashes await

Division 1

Uniting v Glencoe

Uniting and Glencoe are set to go head-to-head this Saturday as they face off in the semi final of the Mount Gambier and District Tennis Association Division 1 competition.

After another great home and away season Uniting finished up as minor premiers while Glencoe found themselves back in the finals after missing out last year.

These sides have met three times this season with Uniting winning all three.

Their latest meeting was in the last round of the home and away fixture.

Glencoe will go into this game as heavy underdogs, as they only picked up three wins this season compared to Uniting’s eight.

A great contest to watch in this match up will be the men’s top singles of Uniting’s Andrew van den Hurk and Glencoe’s Dylan Childs.

The two have been the top players this season in Division 1 and it is always a ripper match when they face off.

In their three meetings this season Childs has gotten the better of van dan Hurk, winning two out of the three.

Given how well Uniting have been performing this season it’s hard not to pick them in this match up on Saturday.

Uniting and Glencoe will go head to head this Saturday at Olympic Park.

West Gambier v Reidy Park

Second-placed West Gambier will take the court against third spot Reidy Park in the semi final on Saturday at Corriedale Park.

These sides have only met once this season, back in round one where West had a 7-5 victory.

The other two times these sides were scheduled to play were abandoned due to weather.

Reidy has been in good form to start 2025, playing two matches and winning both.

They should also be well rested after not playing in round 13 due to hot weather then having the bye the following week.

Like Reidy, West have also been solid to start the new year, playing three matches and winning two with a defeat coming from minor premiers Uniting.

Two interesting match ups to watch on Saturday will be the two top singles.

West’s George White and Reidy’s Zayne Young will be highly competitive.

The two have not played each other yet this season with their last meeting being the semi final last season where White took the win.

On the ladies side of the draw the top singles of Emily Jolley and Bailey Young will be a thrilling watch.

In round one Jolley got the win 6-4.

Given how well these two have been playing this season this clash should be quite the spectacle.

Division 2

Mount Gambier and Suttontown/Glencoe are set to face off with a spot in the grand final on the line.

Gambier just edged out the combined side on the ladder, beating them by only 10 points.

These sides have played each other five times this season with Gambier winning the first two while the combined side claimed the next two with Gambier getting the edge as they won 9-3 in the last round.

These two sides will face off this Saturday at Olympic Park.

Division 3

Mil Lel and Uniting are set to face off while Centrals/Mount Schank and Suttontown will take the court in the other semi final game.

Mil Lel ended the season as minor premiers so they will take on fourth place Uniting.

The season series between these sides is tied as Uniting got the first win and Mil Lel took the most recent victory.

It was a tight battle in division 3 as Uniting just snuck into the finals, beating out fifth placed Mount Gambier by just one point while Mil Lel finished the season with a comfortable lead in first.

In the other match on Saturday Centrals/Mount Schank and Suttontown will face off in the second versus third match up.

These sides have only met once this season with the combined side claiming that victory.

Centrals/Mount Schank will be out for a victory after a narrow loss to Mil Lel last week which resulted in Mil Lel winning on games.

Like Uniting, Suttontown just made it into finals as they beat out Gambier by three points.

Given how close division 3 has been this season it will be anyone’s game this Saturday.

Ladies Doubles

West Gambier will take on Mount Schank at West while the two Mil Lel sides face off in Mil Lel.

Glencoe will host Reidy Park in a first versus third match up.

Suttontown will take on Moorak Green with Moorak Gray taking on Uniting/Glencoe.

Mount Schank will host Mount Gambier Green while Mount Gambier Blue will host Glencoe.
