Senior council worker retires

Wattle Range Council farewelled retiring senior staff member Graham Knaggs at its Millicent depot recently. Mr Knaggs had been one of the council’s longest-serving employees having joined the then Millicent District Council 37 years ago.

Originally employed as a labourer on the outside work crew, Mr Knaggs rose through the ranks to head the staff based at the main works depot at Millicent. His career peaked in 2017 when he filled the operations manager vacancy caused by the retirement of Wayne Fennell.

The successor to Mr Knaggs is former Mount Gambier City Council employee Nick Serle. As a coincidence, both men were educated at Tantanoola Primary School and Millicent High School.
