Shooting contest goes down to the wire

The South East Field and Game Association held an English Sporting Clays 100 target event at Burrungule Park recently.

A total of 76 competitors nominated for the Roundwood Solutions sponsored event which was greeted by near-perfect weather conditions to tackle the course set by Ken Atkin and his hard-working crew.

It was Jamie Dunn who shot 95/100 to claim the Gambier Shooting Supplies High Gun.

In the AA Grade Daniel Ashby took the win by one target from Ron Rhook and in third was Ken Atkin.

A Grade was a thriller with 87 targets shot by all three-place getters and eventually it was Chris VonStanke Jnr that got the win from Michael Brilley and Ben Hastings.

Graeme James was first in the B Grade with 77 targets ahead of Jack Altschwager and Peter Hendy third.

C Grade was another close one with Scott Fleming and Jordon Mervart both on 73 targets and it was the former that was awarded first with Arther Rawlinson in third.

Shakielle VonStanke had a good win in the Sub Juniors with a 16-target victory margin from Noah Vonstanke-Dowie and Jack Dyson.

Senior grade winner was Scott McIntyre from Chris Wright second and Bruce Oakley third.

Shooting was close in the Veteran class and it was John Vandooran winning from Geoffrey Lowe and Rolf Budgen.

Tasha Bellinger continued her good form winning the Ladies class from Rebecca Kober and Sonya Vanderhorst.

Declan Wright was the only shooter in the junior grade and shot 69/100 targets.
