Small business owners work on mental health and wellbeing

Two special sessions will be held in Mount Gambier to assist local businesses to boost their wellbeing.

IGNITE Wellbeing Co in partnership with the Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce will present a series of workshops in region aimed at empowering small businesses to prioritise growth, resilience, and holistic wellbeing within their business.

The program is designed and led by Bel Ryan, a highly experienced clinician with over 20 years of expertise in areas such as facilitation, mental health training, art therapy, and counselling.

Bel will collaborate with expert facilitators to share their knowledge and tools throughout the series of workshops.

Ms Ryan said in Mount Gambier, business stress was a notable issue impacting the local economy.

“A 2023 report from the Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce highlights that many businesses are facing significant challenges, including rising operational costs and increased competition,” she said.

“These pressures have led to higher stress levels among business owners and employees, as they strive to maintain profitability and manage their workloads effectively.

“Often it can feel challenging to juggle all the parts of business and with new regulations about psychosocial risks in the workplace it is vital that business owners and leaders are supporting their team with mental health and wellbeing.

This unique approach will help leaders feel less alone, have facilitated conversations with others that get it, be educated and plan how to best support themselves and their team – it’s a place to get more comfortable with the reality the teams mental health and wellbeing is an essential focus for any organisation” Bel Said.

“Running a small business can often feel like being trapped in an endless cycle of busyness.

“If this resonates with you, then you are most likely someone who would benefit tremendously from this program.”

As small businesses continue to navigate the challenges of an ever-evolving business landscape, these workshops offer a unique opportunity to access high-value resources and tailored support at an affordable cost.

Two sessions will be delivered in Mount Gambier on June 13.

The first will tackle the topic, ‘Navigating Stress, Overwhelm and the Mental Load,’ with the afternoon workshop focusing on ‘Behaviour, Communication and Courageous Conversations.’ Each session will provide valuable information and practical skills and is heavily subsidised at just $29 per person.

It is an opportunity to connect with others and be provided with essential tools and strategies to manage the ever-changing landscape of leading a team and running a business.
