Smaller field contests medal round

Only a small field of 23 ladies took to the Mount Gambier Golf Club course last Wednesday, contesting round two of the Monthly Medal and Putting Competitions. 

Helen McIntyre (89-19-70) was the best placed golfer in the field registering a fine nett 70. 

McIntyre had 89, carding a nice 43 off the stick on the front nine. 

She was the only player to play under her handicap, while vice-captain Jan Shanahan (91- 18-73) played to her handicap scoring 45 on the Front Nine and 46 on the back nine. 

Claiming third for the day was Heather Teakle (99-24-75). 

Only three balls were in the run-down and went to Yvonne Shirley, Heather Barry and Maxine McGregor. 

Speciality prizes for the second shot on the 17th went to A Grade – Bernie Jennings, B Grade – Heather Teakle and C Grade – Vicki Clark. 

The Pro-Shot on the 8th hole winning three balls went to Bev Pedlar. 

In conjunction with the Monthly Medal, a  putting competition sponsored by All Bugs Pest Control was conducted and won by McIntyre with a commendable 30 putts. 

Next week a Stableford event will be held. 

Last Saturday 17 ladies competed in a Stableford competition on a pleasant autumn day. 

The scores were good and the winner for the day was Penne Saffin, who carded 37 points. 

 In second position was new and enthusiastic golfer Vicki Clark who had a really good day out posting 35 points. 

Clark had five three pointers and two four pointers which included two pars on the hard 10th and 11th holes. 

Losing on a count-back and taking out third place was Leanne Hunt who had 35 points, but also -lost out with 17 points on the back nine.
