Soccer juniors represent region at state championships

UNDER 12

Game one: We opened our tournament with arguably one of our toughest games. We played a very attractive style of football and created many quality opportunities.

Game two: Our team showed real growth with a dominant performance and a solid victory. Luke Olivier gave a solid captain’s performance and our keeper Kobe Skeer had an outstanding performance.

Game three

Our ball movement was superb and our link up play through our midfield and wings was unmatched. It was a great way to finish our day and the boys were full of confidence. Eli Loef wasa standout scoring a hattrick.

Game four: It was our best display of engagement, team play and ball movement for the tournament. Unfortunately a controversial goal line clearance cost us a chance to seal the game in the last minute.

Game five: In a blink we were down 3-0 and chasing. The boys learnt a lot from the contest.

Game six: We created probably the most quality opportunities on goal and the most corners of the tournament but just could not capitalise. Kobe Skeer was a standout as goalkeeper.

UNDER 12 DEVELOPMENT

Game one: The 12Ds took a little while to find their team dynamic, not helped by two early goals by Noarlunga off free kicks within the first five minutes. The team pulled together well and in the second half were a much more cohesive group, with a 4-1 loss.

Game two: After a couple of good early attempts by Joseph and Matt L, the first of four Limestone Coast goals was a lovely header by Bladen off the free kick of Matt L. We finished with a 4-1 win.

Game three: The third game of the tournament was a rougher affair. Matt L once again stamped his mark on the game. Joseph’s renowned left foot found the back of the net in the second half, and the boys were doing well to defend against the Port Lincoln attacks.

Game four: The boys found crossing the ball in to be an effective form of attack, and our 2-0 win was sealed by two headers.

Game five: This was a close match and all our players ran hard, tackled strongly and attacked consistently.

UNDER 13 BOYS

Game one: After the first half we were drawn at 2-all. Another 20 minutes of tug of war and a long ball was put over our defence and scored. For a first game we were really proud of the skill and effort on display.

Game one: We won 22-nil. The opposition have to be commended for their tenacity and boys empathised for the opposition. In the second half we came back with two players getting double hattricks and two players scoring for the first time.

Game three: Our intensity and prowess on the ball was awe inspiring. Our first half ended with us up 1-nil. The second half fell against us, leaving only 10 young men on the pitch. We conceded a lucky free kick to equalise. The boys fought hard for the remainder of the game. Result was a 1-all draw.

Game four: Our first half was uneventful and a little sloppy ending in 1-all. However, after a chat in the half, an amazing goal created in the front line penetrated the opposition line and scored resulting in our second win of 2-1.

Game five: We had already played two this day, with little break time between games. The opposition had only played one before and they used their fresh legs to smash through us. The final score was 6-nil against us.

Game six: After a tough battle we conceded a goal. This was followed by another. But in the second half the determination to win clicked in and we fought back. The final score was 4-nil against us.

UNDER 13 GIRLS BLUE

Game one: We managed to hold off Adelaide Hills for the first half. The girls stood up

well in the second half with several attempts by the Limestone Coast midfield and strikers, including some impressive corner kicks, to gain a score on the board. The Limestone Coast backline fought hard and did an excellent job of repelling many attacks by the opposition, going down 2-0.

Game two: The majority of the play for the first half of the game was controlled within our forward half – with Limestone Coast scoring our first and only impressive goal early on. The second half of the game saw plenty of opportunities on goals, but just couldn’t manage to finish it off. Whyalla then went on to score their first and only goal of the game also – resulting in 1-1 draw.

Game three: The team spent the first half of the game showing Port Pirie just how determined they were. The Coasters’ goalkeeper was impressive in stopping the many attempts on goal. The midfield and strikers took it in turns with impressive shots on goal that just were unable to get past the opposition’s keeper, going down 4-0.

Game four: The two teams from each pool that sat equal third on the ladder went head to head in one last game for the tournament. Adelaide Hills scored early but the Limestone Coast girls were not deterred and scored shortly after. Unfortunately Adelaide Hills were just too strong and our girls went down 7-1.

UNDER 13 GIRLS RED

Game one: Heading into our first game, we were all a bit nervous in terms of what the result will be, however, reminders like remembering to communicate, making space, and to have fun stuck into the girls’ brains as they played their hearts out to win 8-1 against Adelaide Hills White.

Game two: In our second game we defeated Port Lincoln 6-1. The girls were over the moon, and to see players such as Saskia Brogan, Emmy Jeffery, Taylor Bobbin and Patience Taipiha get their names on the score sheet was exciting.

Game three: We played Riverland in the afternoon, which was a 13-0 win. Charlie Moors remained solid and consistent the entire tournament, and with the help of her left back Ella Swiggs, and right back Kaitlyn Gibbs, as well as our goalkeeper Taylor Lucas, there were only four goals conceded across the entire weekend.

Game four: An early morning against Adelaide Hills Blue proved to have been our toughest game yet.

With Patience and Saskia working together in the forward line, Roxy Buck, Jasmine Sims and Sinead Legoe on the wings, as well as Roxy Johston working hard in our midfield, we were able to settle our position in the grand final with a 4-1 victory.

Game five: We played Port Pirie in the grand final and through the efforts from the entire team, we were able to walk away as the State Champions with a 5-0 win.

UNDER 14

Game one: Our defence line was perfectly feeding the ball forward through our midfield and finding our boys in front of the goal. Some great passages of play gave us many chances at goal but could not finish.

Game two: There were many standout performances, our forwards were enjoying the through balls that our midfield were feeding them, as they found the back of the net. They shared the ball around and created goal opportunities

Game three: There were a lot of fantastic passages of play as well as skilled moves and a few great shots on goal that found the back of the net. A few players made their hattricks and others kicked their first goal for the tournament.

Game four: Goalkeeper Jami Howley came out of the goals and had a run on the pitch and proved he could also kick goals. Josh Kumbhare made a few good saves to keep a clean sheet for his first time as goalkeeper.

Game five: Things got a bit rough and heated out on the pitch. As the game went on the opposition’s desperation resulted in rough play, in which our boys kept great composure. The skills of our boys kept the ball majority of the game, however Port Pirie found the back of the net again with a free kick. A last courageous effort from the boys managed to find Saimon, who had a ripper shot on goal but hit the crossbar.

UNDER 15

Game one: We kept majority of the play but lost a bit of momentum before picking up at the 20 minute mark when a third goal was scored, followed by a fourth soon after off of a corner. We ended the game with a 6-1 win.

Game two: The game started off well with two early goals. It was a great team effort with multiple goal scorers and goal scoring opportunities against a very physical side. We finished with an 8-nil win.

Game three: It was a slow start to the game and we started with a different line up to give players a run. We were able to push through to win 5-nil.

Game four: With a first up game in the morning the boys started very slowly and had a hard fought first half managing to get three goals in before succumbing to a few injuries. We ended the game with a 3-all draw

Game five: We got off to a good start with a couple of early goals so we were able to rest a couple of key players carrying injuries. Hills took advantage of our missing players, but we were able to take back control, winning 7-3.

Game six: We started off the game slow and steady but under control before we got a score on the board. We then rested a few players and ended the half at 2-nil, before going on to win 6-nil.

UNDER 16 GIRLS

Game one: Despite outplaying our opposition, the team was unable to overcome, conceding two early goals.

Game two: It was a game where nothing went right.

Good periods of play were undone by errors in defence exploited by the pace of the Riverland attack.

Game three: From a game where nothing went right earlier in the day, the team showed what they were capable of.

There was plenty of breathtaking attack and solid defensive play.

Game four: Adelaide Hills were looking for a win to take the title but the Limestone Coast team had other plans.

The first half saw the Coast girls totally outclass their opponents and take a deserved lead.

We continued to create chances but just could not land the knockout blow.

Adelaide Hills scored an equaliser via a penalty awarded in the last two minutes.

Overall: Apart from one off game the team played well and were a very competitive unit.

Jasmine was our player of the tournament.

UNDER 16 boys

Game one: After lots of first half possession and opportunities scores were locked at 1-1 at the half. Captain Nico Teodoro was controlling the midfield battle, Ryley Stephenson and Sae Nay Mya got on the board in the second half with a 4-1 victory.

Game two: The first half was a bit untidy and sloppy in front of goals and at the break Coasters were up 8-0.

The second half looked better with nine players hitting the score board.

Game three: An early goal to Nico gave us the lead before Pirie hit back to level, a great save by Tyler Beimans held the score line late in the half. We equalised through Sae Nay’s penalty before a great finish from Ryley Stephenson to remain undefeated.

Game four: The boys were dominant throughout the early stages with Bushi scoring and Moo Bwe creating havoc in the midfield. In the second half the ball movement was better with Bushi scoring two more, Sae Nay hitting the score board and Moo Bwe getting a goal.

Game five: Skipper Nico Teodoro, Patrick Dycer and Oscar Livingstone won the midfield battle, while Tyler Beimans kept out a couple of good shots.

Game six: The last game was an anticlimax against a deflated Yorke team. We rested some players and played with seven in the second half and had some fun with the Yorke boys.
