Softballers step up for CFS round

Over the weekend, the local softball community came together in a fantastic display of support and gratitude for the hard-working volunteers of the Country Fire Service during a special statewide CFS round.

Held on the anniversary of the Ash Wednesday fires, the event not only raised awareness for the vital role CFS crews play in protecting communities but also fostered a strong sense of unity and purpose.

Throughout the day three exciting games of softball were played, with players and supporters proudly wearing orange and yellow accessories, such as visors and ribbons, in recognition of the CFS.

The atmosphere was filled with energy, teamwork, and appreciation for the dedication of these local heroes.

A highlight of the event was a community barbecue which successfully raised funds for the Compton CFS crew, further demonstrating the generosity and spirit of the local community.

Families and young supporters also enjoyed a range of water activities, adding to the fun and ensuring there was something for everyone to take part in.

Beyond the games and activities, the event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of volunteer emergency services and the incredible efforts of the CFS in keeping communities safe.

It was a day of camaraderie, cause, and connection – proving that when a community comes together, great things happen.
