South East stars stack SA squad

The prestigious South Australian Country team will be back in action this Saturday and many of the stars that pushed South East to a state title will form the nucleas of the squad.

Nine of the 31 players selected in the SA Country squad are from the successful South East side which won the 2022 Think! Road Safety SA Country Championships at Whyalla in grand style.

Leading the way is the classy Naracoorte ball magnet Matt Willson, who was a near certainty after being named played of the championships in Whyalla.

He will be joined by fellow Bordertown players Jacob Eats and Tom Whittlesea with the latter boasting SANFL experience for South Adelaide and Penola’s Brad Bryant.

South Gambier coach Brayden Kain will form a key part of the forward line alongside emerging teammate Todd Reid, while Millicent livewire Frazer Bradley also gets a grand opportunity.

Mid South Eastern stars Mark Marriott and Patrick Davies from Hatherleigh and Kalangadoo respectively are the other Limestone Coast members.

The famous red, yellow and blue jumpers will be back on the field in the side’s first game in three years against Western Australia Country.

It will be an experience the players will never forget as they fight for state pride in a curtain raiser for the Adelaide v Carlton AFL blockbuster at Adelaide Oval this Saturday.
