Special guest brings laughs, jokes and chitter, chatter, chitter to business awards gala

The 2022 Glenelg Shire Business and Tourism Awards Gala night will feature a theatrical edge, with an iconic media personality hosting the event.

Former Rockwiz host Brian Nankervis will serve as emcee for the Gala Awards night, which will take place on Saturday at the Portland Golf Club.

Mr Nankervis is an acclaimed producer, writer, performer best known for his role as co-host of the AFI Award winning SBS music trivia show, Rockwiz, alongside Julia Zemiro.

He is also the talented producer behind a long list of shows that include Boys and Balls for the ABC and Class Clowns.

A strong writer, he penned and performed in Channel 10’s hospital soap opera Let The Blood Run Free and regularly appeared on Hey, Hey, It’s Saturday as the tortured street poet Raymond J Bartholomeuz.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Anita Rank said Mr Nankervis would bring his lively personality to the night, ensuring attendees are well entertained.

“Brian is a well-known and respected Australian performer, and we are delighted to have him here in Portland to host our 2022 Glenelg Shire Business and Tourism Awards Gala evening,” she said.

“I know there will be many RockWiz fans in the crowd, including myself, and I look forward to hearing about the many funny stories and memories from the long-running show, as well as his time on national radio and theatre.

“We know there will be many laughs shared, and perhaps even some revelations the public were not aware of.

“Brian will also have the auspicious task of helping to announce our 2022 ACE Radio Business of the Year, the overall award which will have kept attendees alert with anticipation.
