Star AFLW footballer Ella Little is returning to her home town of Millicent this week to promote the code.

The Millicent Football Netball Club’s Women’s Football side together with Hatherleigh Football Netball Club’s junior girls football team welcome all interested girls and women out for a ‘Come and Try’ session to be held at McLaughlin Park tomorrow night.

The session, which will be facilitated by Little, is open to girls and women of all ages and abilities.

It will give them an opportunity to learn some basic skills while having some fun.

Little had been drafted by the Melbourne Football Club but has yet to make her AFLW debut.

The 20-year-old has previously played with Mount Burr, Millicent, Morphettville Park and Woodville West Torrens.

The ‘Come and Try’ event will start at 5.30pm and will conclude with a sausage sizzle after an hour of football.

Millicent Football Netball Club women’s football representative Meg Tilley said th night would be a great way for anyone who is curious about footy to come out and have a kick with no expectations.

“Those that think they might be interested in playing in the upcoming season will also be able to get more information about what is involved on the night,” she said.

“All you need to bring is a drink bottle and sneakers or football boots.”

Among those who will be taking part tomorrow will be Kelsie Wilkinson who plays football with the Millicent Saints and soccer with Millicent United.

“I like the team environment and being with friends,” Kelsie said.

“It boosts your positive mental attitude and assists your physical fitness.

“It is good to see the increase in participation in women’s sport.”

Hatherleigh will defend its underage title this spring while the senior competition will be staged in autumn of 2024.
