The Kingston District Council will hold a Spring to Life Festival on October 21 in a first for the small community of Kingston.
The purpose and vision of ‘Spring to Life’ is to provide information, knowledge and experiences to the Kingston community to encourage and foster good health, wellbeing, mindfulness, social connection, community and living well within the township.
The festival is family friendly and free to attend and includes cooking demonstrations by Mount Gambier’s Cindy Bunt from The Post and Rail.
Cindy will be wowing the audience with her knowledge of ‘Preserving the Harvest’, using the Fowlers method, how to whip up a quick two ingredient passata, make a jam and chutney from scratch, a seasonal produce demonstration using whatever is in her garden and in season right now, and a quick and simple naan bread that all the family will love.
Cindy is a great lover of food and growing her own produce and her cooking methods are always simple, efficient, and fun.
And not only can this lady cook, but she paints too!
Kingston District Council has commissioned Cindy to guide those in attendance to Spring to Life throughout the day to work together on a community collaborative art piece that will be placed in the newly renamed Meet. Make Create.
Space at the Kingston Town Hall upon completion.
This is a council dedicated space that is used for wellbeing, mindfulness, and social connection activities, and by local community groups as a place to meet, make and or create.
And for the young and young at heart at the festival there will be a free outdoor bubble and science show happening with Marty McBubble.
Natalie Hollenberg Stal from My Strong Me will offer two hypno meditation group sessions entitled ‘Empower Your Future’ and ‘Love Your Body, Love Yourself’ and there is a Brain Gym workshop from Heather Gibbons.
Hayley Harding from Melaleuca Natural Home Products will also deliver an information session on the day.
Other activities and stallholders throughout the day include health checks with Focus One Health, Melaleuca Natural Home products, Kingston SE Small Steps, the Men’s Shed, Limestone Coast Boat Tours, Argyle Travel, the Fitness Hub team with a kid’s obstacle course and an adults push up challenge.
Life Coach Naomi Eleftheriou will be sharing her skills in jewellery making, there will be free popcorn from Kingston’s Suicide Prevention Network, the Kingston SE Yarn & Knit will be teaching the art of knitting, you can paint your own terracotta pot with KDC, enjoy a massage with Marsha, chat with Janie Wilde Independent Flavourista Consultant, Sweet Pedals Smoothy Bikes – make your own smoothy under your own steam, Kingston Community School’s Sustainability team and coffee and food by Bliss by the Sea and Hook & Harvest.
