Sprintcar invitation accepted

Alocal sprintcar driver will head to Adelaide in November to race in the NAPA Speedway invitational.

Scott Enderl has been invited to compete in the four day event which is being run as part of the Vailo Adelaide 500 Supercars finale, which will also feature local drivers Kai Allen and Jobe Stewart who will be competing in the final round of the Dunlop Super2 Series Championship.

Enderl was one of only 40 drivers selected, with the field featuring 36 Australians, three Americans and one driver from New Zealand.

The event spans four days from November 14-17 with the NAPA Sprintcar Invitational kicking off with practice on Wednesday night, followed by racing on Thursday and Friday.

The racing format takes inspiration from the High Limits format in the US which includes explosive heats with maximum overtaking opportunities and will be sure to make for an exciting weekend of racing with the drivers competing on a brand new track built for the event.

The international drivers competing on Thursday and Friday will all be battling for their share of a $100,000 prize pool.

Enderl believes this is a massive achievement for only for him, but for the sport as a whole in the local community.

“It’s quite an achievement and I’m very excited for the opportunity,” he said.

“Obviously it’s going to be huge for our sport and the recognition it’s going to give being televised live on the same stage as the Supercars.

“It’s great for the sport and it will be good exposure for our local sponsors and its overall great to get television coverage in our sport.”

Enderl is hoping to have a good performance despite not having any data on the track due to it being brand new.

“I’m hoping to do well, there’s a lot on unknowns obviously because we do not have any track data because it’s a brand new purpose built track,” he said.

“Realistically it will be who is going to adapt to the track quicker and get the setup right with their car.

“So I hope we do well, there’s going to be a lot of unknowns but everyone is going to be in the same boat but hopefully we can do alright in it.”

After Adelaide, Enderl has a busy couple of months as he prepares to compete in Speed Week, which is also known as the “month of money”, with races at Murray Bridge, Tolmer Speedway, Borderline Speedway, Avalon Raceway and Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway.
