Stableford win teed up

Almost 40 women’s golfers played a Stableford Event, sponsored by Peter Dempsey at the Mount Gambier Golf Club last Wednesday in perfect golfing conditions.

Due to the set-up of the course and the fine weather 12 women played to their handicap or better.

With an unbeatable score of 43 points Vicki Clark (28) once again claimed the honours.

Clark registered 25 points on the front scoring 43 off the stick, being seven shots under her handicap.

She also scored 18 points on the difficult back nine.

Sue Coulter (27) was unlucky to come in second place as she carded a lovely 42 points, enough to win most days. Having 22 points and playing four under her Handicap and 18 points on the back.

She registered seven three pointers throughout the round.

Quite new to the game Julie Hanel (39) played an excellent round of 40 points, four under her Handicap. Julie scored 22 points with six three pointers on the front and 18 points on the long back nine.

Nine ladies received a ball in the ball run-down – Lois Harvey, Denise Harvey, Susan Downes, Marie Douglas, Maxine McGregor, Kerry Pedlar, Lyn Hudson, Libby Altschwager and Carol Davis.

Earning three balls for her fine effort on the eighth hole for the Pro Shot was Andrea Pegler.

The second shot on the first hole went to Denise Harvey in A Grade, Diann Norman for B Grade and C Grade honours went to Vicki Clark.

Next week’s competition will be the third round of the Olympic Trophy in the form of a Par Round.

Last Saturday eighteen Ladies took part in a Stableford competition in fine conditions with the Course looking immaculate.

Kathy Ewer (23) had an excellent round scoring consistently on both nines with a 42-point round evenly split.

It comprised of six three pointers and a great birdie on the Par three eighth hole.

Gemma Winterborn (23) had a much improved back nine scoring 21 points after registering 16 on the front.

Having two four pointers on the 11th and 14th holes contributed to her gaining second place.

Faye Mainwaring (14) counted out her sister Helen Gregory to gain the final spot on the podium.

Both sisters had excellent scores of 37 points.

Faye had a great score of 20 points and six pars on the long back nine to win the count-back.
