Stand-out students supported on education journey

Students across the Grant District Council are being recognised and rewarded for their academic commitments and achievements.

Each year council provides scholarships of $500 to students at high schools across the district, and in neighbouring Mount Gambier.

The scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate a number of selection criteria including their school values, an exemplary attendance record and intent to undertake tertiary education.

The winners of the 2021 council scholarships are:

Leah McDonnell – St Martins Lutheran College.

Chelsea Ray and Gemma Ralph – Grant High School.

Damon Verrier – Allendale East Area School.

Sarah McKinnon – Tenison Woods College.

Josh Kain – Mount Gambier High School.

Mayor Richard Sage said supporting young people to succeed in their studies was a key part in council’s community development role.

“I am extremely proud of all the students that have been awarded 2021 scholarships,” he said.

“Congratulations to all of the winners of council’s 2021 scholarships.

“Council is very proud to able to support you to achieve in your studies and advance in your chosen career pathways.

“Education is key for the growth and development of our young people we wish you all the best with your studies” he said.
