OneFortyOne Pioneers star Zitina Aokuso is one step closer to booking her ticket to Paris as a member of the Australian Opals team.
“Z” as she is affectionately known, is currently in Melbourne as part of Basketball Australia’s Ford BALLIN’24 – a major international series featuring Australia’s top teams against China and Japan at John Cain Arena.
Over four nights this week, the Boomers, Seven Consulting Opals, Rollers, Gliders & 3×3 Gangurrus men and women’s teams will come together for a massive series in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.
A stack of domestic and international talent is locked in for Ford BALLIN’24 with the likes of Josh Giddey and Tess Madgen featuring for the Boomers and Opals.
Both teams will battle Team China offering a prime opportunity for audiences to see Australia’s best players on home soil.
Australia’s 3×3 Gangurrus, the current FIBA Asia Cup Champions, will play against the might of Team China.
Australia’s wheelchair stars will face Japan with the Gliders and Rollers alternating across the schedule.
The Ballin’24 basketball bonanza provides more crucial Olympic preparation for an Australian squad which has toured China and Japan in recent weeks.
Another Limestone Coast connection to the team is Millicent’s Shannon Seebohm who has been appointed assistant coach.
