‘Stop the Blue Blob’

Members of the Mount Gambier community are not giving up on their quest to ‘Stop the Blue Blob’ with a petition now circulating.

Anyone opposed to City Council’s proposed controversial Beacon Art Project sculpture are invited to sign an online petition.

The petition to the City of Mount Gambier states “We, the people who elected you, do not agree with your decision choosing the ‘blue blob’ for the Beacon Art Project”.

“We request that you pause the project until proper community consultation is undertaken.”

Officially titled ‘Cast in Blue’, the proposed sculpture has gained widespread attention as the ‘Blue Blob’.

Currently the figure lives to fight another day after a motion to rescind its approval was defeated at council’s November monthly meeting.

However, some members of the community are determined for the decision to not go ahead and have now responded with a petition for more people to express their views against council’s decision.
