Students awarded at Uni SA celebration

There were hearty congratulations to all recipients at the University of South Australia Mount Gambier Campus Scholarships, Grants and Awards nights. Both 2020 and 2021 recipients came together with family and friends to celebrate their achievements.

Recipients were commended for receiving various awards, scholarships and grants through their studies at UniSA. Many of the donors attended to present the awards to their recipients, including grants from the Cowan Family, Mount Gambier City Council, UniSA, Naracoorte Lucindale Council, Wattle Range Council, Grant District Council, Gambier City Lions Club and the Rotary District 9780.

Students also received awards and various scholarships including merit awards, the Colliers Charitable Trust, UniSA scholarships, Resthaven Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Allied Health Scholarship and Destination Australia Scholarships. The event took place over two nights due to COVID crowd number restrictions, so all students had the opportunity to be recognised for their achievements.

Formalities were followed by a dinner prepared by Donna Stone Catering and attendees could enjoy a glass of wine or a cider sponsored by Patrick of Coonawarra. UniSA Chief Academic Services Officer Tom Steer congratulated the recipients and hoped those who had completed their degrees left the Mount Gambier campus with many positive memories and encouraged those still studying to engage with campus life.

University of South Australia Regional Manager Ian McKay said the event was one of the highlights on their calendar for the year. “We thank those organisations who have supported these opportunities for our local students,” Mr McKay said.
