Students gear up for new school year

School corridors were full of chatter once again as the 2021 school year started yesterday, with some parents no doubt also celebrating the return of school routine.

School kids swapped their holiday beach gear for school uniforms and settled in to their classrooms and some students experienced the excitement of starting their first day of school.

Five-year-old Chase Attiwill had his first day of Reception yesterday, joining his two older brothers at Compton Primary School. Chase’s mother Natalie Attiwill said she had mixed emotions about Chase starting school.

Ms Attiwill said Chase was already comfortable and familiar with Compton Primary School and the teachers as he has been a part of the school community since he was born.

“Chase, being our youngest of three boys, means that his ‘firsts’ are our last ones,” she said.

“I’ll miss the days where it was just me and him at home, but I know he’s ready because he is so excited and talks about his friends and teacher often.”

Ms Attiwill said she was looking forward to having her three boys all at school together for the first time.
